Maria C. Caiozzo, president of Balanced Canine Products, Inc. first became involved in canine rehabilitation when her 8-year-old Boston Terrier 'Max' suffered a spinal injury and became a paraplegic.  While searching for good care for Max, Maria was introduced to the Animal Recreation and Rehabilitation Center in Florida, where she later worked as a rehabilitation technician.  During this time she also attended (and was later employed at) the Canine Rehabilitation Institute (CRI) where she received her CCRT (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Technician).

Beginning in 2004, Maria assumed many roles at CRI, including teaching assistant and operations manager, and eventually began manufacturing the therapeutic exercise equipment used in the exercise labs at the school.

Recognizing the need for practitioners to have a reliable resource for high-quality therapeutic exercise equipment, especially designed for animals, Maria created Balanced Canine Products, Inc. in 2007. She prides herself on the hand-crafted products she designs and manufactures and on providing exceptional customer service to the rehabilitation community.

Maria resides in Portland, Oregon where she enjoys the numerous outdoor activities the Pacific Northwest has to offer. She bikes, hikes, snowshoes and cross-country skis with her current crew of furry companions, Katie and Oscar.
